Bury Clarion CC

Local cycle club to Velochampion HQ. Established in 1901 Bury Clarion are one of the oldest cycling clubs in the North West and have supported the development of top Pro Riders including Bury-born Simon and Adam Yates (currently riding for Mitchelton Scott). 

Bury Clarion host rides for adults weekly and also support the development of younger riders, the Bury Bullets.

Oxford University Cycling Club (OUCC) is a lively cycling club for students and associated members of the University of Oxford. The club was originally founded in 1873 and it is suggested that we are the oldest student cycling club in the world. The club has a strong tradition centred on the annual Varsity match, which is contested in both road and off-road competitions.

MARCUS DEY (Triathlon)


VELOCHAMPION Teams up with Local Lad and GB Triathlete Marcus Dey

Velochampion is pleased to announce another new partnership with leading Triathlete Marcus Dey for the 2019 season. 

Marcus, aged 17, has competed in a wide range of Regional and National Triathlons. He has represented Team GB in Elite International events and is the current British Junior Series Champion.  Velochampion is sponsoring Marcus with a range of bike accessories and clothing to give him the boost to keep performing at the highest level. 

Living locally to Velochampion HQ, Marcus often trains with the Rochdale Triathlon Club, Bury Clarion Cycling Club and Bury Athletic Club. Velochampion wants to ensure it supports local athletes and local clubs to achieve their full potential.

ANDY & JAMIE OAKEY (Triathlon)

Andy: Andy is an age-group GB triathlete and aquathlete, whose background is in swimming; competing for his local swimming club from a young age.

At university, he took up cycling and represented Southampton at the BUCS Track championships. In his final year at university he took up triathlon, placing second in the Varsity Triathlon Championships in Nottingham, and narrowly missed the podium in the London Triathlon.

Andy is looking forward to a strong season in 2019 in which he will be racing in the Alpe d'Huez Triathlon and Boston Marathon amongst other events.

Jamie: Jamie is a GB age group triathlete and aquathlete. Having swum competitively from a young age 2014 saw Jamie looking for a new challenge, he entered a triathlon and was instantly hooked. 

Numerous learning experiences followed, along with racing within elite domestic fields, posting sub 2 hour Olympic triathlon finishing times and making podiums for GB in the sub-discipline of aquathlon followed. 

2019's goal is all about going long, with his Ironman debut in Ironman UK in the middle of the year, and aspirations of qualifying for the world champs in Kona, Hawaii.


We will be attending events across the UK this year, make sure you come across to attend.



Taking place on the 5th May, the 104 mile long route will travel through all 10 boroughs of Greater Manchester, with over 9000ft of climbing to complete, a guaranteed leg stinger.

Running from the 8th - 15th September, the Tour of Britain is yet to announce full routes for 2019, but we are excited to announce we have agreed and elevated sponsorship for the next two years with the Tour of Britain.  

We will be attending a number of stages, but you will have to wait to hear from Tour of Britain which stages those will be. Stay tuned.
