A History of Maxgear Limited, Celebrating 13 years

It's our Birthday! 🥳 Today marks the 13th year of trading for Maxgear Limited. We thought we would share just some of the history of Maxgear and how we became the VeloChampion brand you know and love today...

Managing Director Ciaran Dunne said:
“The last few years have been difficult for everyone, but we believe that we are creating cycling equipment not just for the elite riders testing their limits, but also for the everyday cyclists. We have tweaked our focus over the years, but believe we are now stronger than ever to enable us to continue providing riders with the right equipment and accessories so you can gear up and get out."

IN THE BEGINNING

In 2009 we saw that most cycling brands at the time were producing cycling clothing and equipment, but we saw a niche for affordable cycling accessories and Maxgear was born. Trading as Maxgear our small but mighty Alloy 7" Mini Pump was the very first product we produced and are proud to be still selling this very successful product today. 

MAXGEAR RACING 

After a few years of trading, the Maxgear Racing Team was born and later developed into the VCUK Racing Team.

Pro Cyclists such as Olympic Champion Nicole Cooke, Adam Yates, Simon Yates, Hugh Carthy, Chris Latham and Chris Lawless are to name just a few riders we helped develop and invested in heavily over the years.

GOING GLOBAL

In 2010 with strong sales in our UK market we decided to expand to European regions selling our own label Maxgear products. Today we sell our VeloChampion products in over 11 countries globally and are looking to continue this expansion.

LOOKING AHEAD

During our time trading, we switched our brand name to VeloChampion, being something more relatable to the sport itself. Today our company focus is to make cycling accessible for everyone, which is why we ensure that we produce affordable cycling equipment and accessories you can trust - and long may it continue.
