We all know that cycling in summer is a breeze, the warm air flowing through your helmet cooling down your overheating head and trying to reduce your red face as you get near to the summit of your climb, but what do you do in winter?
If you call yourself an all-weather cyclist, you will know that winter cycling is not to be sniffed at! You need to be ready and up for tackling the challenging and unpredictable British weather.
In cooler conditions, you can lose up to 20% of your body heat through your head, and although a helmet provides the perfect protection for your skull, it certainly won’t keep the heat in and your head warm. That is why we have developed our very own fleece lined skull cap.
The thin fully fleece lined skull cap sits neatly under your helmet to prevent heat loss, additional warmth and designed with flatlock stitching it will prevent seams from irritating your head.
Weighing in at only 29grams (for size L-XL) this lightweight skull cap comes in 3 sizes to fit a range of head sizes and product tested to ensure ear and nape of neck warmth whilst cycling.
Still got some questions about our skull cap?
Here are some customer questions we have already have answered.
Will the skull cap reduce the traffic noise when I’m cycling?
No, not at all the skull cap is 1mm thick so it will not muffle traffic noise when cycling in the skull cap.
Can I wear the skull cap/beanie in all weathers?
Yes, although we advise it is best to wear in winter conditions between -5 to 10 degrees due to its inner fleece lining.
Are there any safety features?
Yes, we have featured our reflective VeloChampion logo on the side of the skull cap so if lights hit your head it will reflect in low light.
I’m not sure which size to choose. Can you advise?
Of course. We have 3 sizes of skull cap.

Good fit for my 59cm head - felt a bit tight on first use but has eased over the next 2/3 rides and now very comfortable. Works well down to 0 Celsius - haven't tried it any colder. Washes well. Can't really comment on durability other than it looks to be well made. Significant improvement on other (improvised) cold weather solutions e.g. old woolly hat. Very happy to recommend.
